The kayaking tour gives you the opportunity to kayak amongst our permanent seal colony at the tip of the Pelican Point Peninsula about 35 km outside Walvis Bay. We regularly encounter Heaviside’s and Benguella Dolphins and - in season between July and November even whales.

The tour starts early in the morning at a pre-arranged meeting point usually at the Walvis Bay Waterfront. We take you in a 4x4 vehicle on a scenic drive along the Walvis Bay Lagoon and the salt mine to Pelican Point. We stop along the way to take pictures of our countless flamingoes, pelicans, large flocks of cormorants and great variety of other birds and wildlife.

After approximately one hour we reach Pelican Point where we will get our Kayaks ready for your adventure. Waterproof clothing and boots is provided for you and your Kayak guide will give you a safety briefing on how to use the equipment and our local conditions.

The kayaks are molded plastic sit-inside double or single kayaks. They are very stable and suitable for inexperienced paddlers too.

Pelican Point is home to approximately 50.000 Cape Fur Seals all year round. They are very friendly and playful and not intimidated by our Kayaks, even when we paddle right next to them. The seals are very inquisitive and often comes within touching distance of our Kayaks.

The kayaking takes place on the protected side of the peninsula. We spend around 2 hours on the ocean, depending on general weather conditions.

After Kayaking, we recharge during breakfast with some fresh broetchens and coffee and tea, before we head back to Walvis Bay. Depending on the departure time, we return either around 12h00 or 12h45.
