Hunting Itinerary
Day 1. We will meet you at the Airport or in Windhoek and make sure you have everything you need for an enjoyable stay at Otjere. After any last minute shopping has been done we will take a scenic one and half hour drive out to Otjere lodge.
Hunting Days
A normal hunting day will begin near first light at 6am and your professional hunting guide will knock on your door to wake you for a delicious breakfast. After which the guns will be packed and the day’s adventure begins.
The best time for hunting is early morning or late afternoon and so we will spend the morning scouring the plains for that special trophy, stopping for a hearty lunch under the shade of a tree or back at camp. The Namibian sun is incredibly strong so it’s best to rest during the peak of the afternoon, that’s what the animals will be doing anyway.
In the afternoon we set out again until dusk and return back to camp for some much needed rest and relaxation by the pool or around a camp fire.
We are blessed to have approximately 300 sunshine days during the year. During June to September is our winter season and it can get very cold. We suggest packing warm clothing, gloves and windbreakers.
During the summer season the evenings and early mornings can get cool, but during the day the temperatures can rise until 35° C. Our rainy season usually starts in October and ends in April.
What really makes a great hunting adventure though, is the surroundings and the company. That is where we come in, the bush around Otjere Wildlife camp is entirely pristine. Which means aside from hunting you can also take in some bird watching, game viewing or some horse riding through the African Savannah. You will find the staff is friendly and attentive and your hunting guide knows the land like the back of his hand.
