Level 1 and Level 2
The Academy targets youths and adolescent early school leavers whose household main sources of income is either social grants from their parents/gurdians or income from the informal economy (such as shebeens/ open markets / mobile trading/ domestic work).
The academy aims to embrace the local culture of assisting each other to provide access to vocational training and multipurpose centre where youths , adolescent girls can benefit from simple yet transformative initiatives.
I am 38 years old, girl and unmarried. This year I took a decision to study the clothing production at Ongula - village Homestead. When I complete my studies and get my qualification, gaining more knowledge,
I want to be a Namibian designer.
I am 23 years old. I come the family of many people, but no one we can call a nurse, teacher or engineer. Not yet! I want to be the first one to graduate and be someone in life, having my own family house,
car and a retail shop or my own company.
I’am 23 years old and stay with my parents who are uneducated and unemployed. I suffered with my schools fees and my hostel fees I have many challenges, which caused my grades to suffer. My parents
don’t have money.
I’am 19 years old and I live with my mother, bothers and sisters. My mother works as a domestic worker. Sometime we find it hard to get our stationary and to pay our school fees but never the less we are
surviving and trying hard.
I am 21 years old, I joined the academy after failing form Three mathematics in Zimbabwe. I am glad to have this opportunity to study. Although the studying process may be hard, the rewards later are worth
the hard work.
I’m 25 years old My family are 6 to my mother, 2 boys and 4 girls. Only one works, the rest are unemployed. My mother is very old and there is no one take care of us. We just depend on Mahangu and animals
(goats and cattle). I having Two kids (2 girls).
I joined this academy because I failed Grade 10. Last year I was doing construction work and was earning less than N$ 400.00 per month but the pay was irregular and could take up to two to three
months before I could get paid.
What motivated me most to study further was our living condition at my home. I want to be a receptionist, it has been my dream job since childhood. I feel pursuing my dream job will give me the utmost
satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment.
I’am 30 years old i come from a family of 7 children. I am married now and have a new family with my husband, we have boys. Now I am a trainee at Homestead skills and Technical Education Academy as a
hospitality and tourism level 2 student……
I’am 35 years old, I originate from Ohangwena and I have been married for Eight years and have 6 children. My parents passed away when I was only 10 years old, leaving me to grow up in a very
challenging environment with 17 other siblings.
I am 22 years old I am the first born. I have three sisters on my mothers side and the only child on my fathers side. I come from a poor family, we are struggling to make ends meet. I want to gain
skills and knowledge on how to serve people with food and accommodation
I am 23 years. I had a minimum wage job. I couldn’t find a better paying job as I had poor Grade 10 results and any hope of a bright future seemed to be fading away in a distance until someone
from our church told me about the academy.
I am 38 years old and was born in a family of Six. I completed my Secondary education at 20 in 1995. Because of financial constraints, I was unable to continue to higher education, due to failure to access
sponsorship or scholarships
I was born in 1993 and I started my primary school at Kauluma Grade 0 to Seven and progressed to Kauluma Combined School to do Grade Eight to 10, then moved to Otjikoto Secondary School for my NAMCOL
in Grade 11 and 12.
I am 21, anda good communicator who can provide leadership and direction when called upon. The academy has helped me believe in myself and shown that we can always do better in life, if you
work hard and put your mind to it.
I come from Onekaku village and was born in 1983. I come from a family of Five and left school in 2001. I joined the academy driven by the strong desire to develop skills and knowledge in
producing clothing fabrics to make useful products
I am quiet girl born in 14th July 1981. I attended Oluno Secondary School where I attained a Grade 12 certificate. In 2004 I took a course in computers . Unfortunately my academic progress was halted due to
lack of funds.
I grew up in an extended family and completed high school in 2013. Once I complete my Level One national certificate, I would like to pursue Level 2 and 3. And to proceed to the University of Namibia for my
Masters Degree.
