A rural based skills Development and Technical Education Centre offering 21st century employability and soft skills for youths to move from zero to Hero. After establishing the Ongula Village Homestead Lodge and Campsite in Ohangwena region of Northern Namibia the Nghiwete family decided that as part of the lodges corporate social responsibility, they would turn the current community Multi-purpose and development centre into a skill Development and Technical Education Academy to inspire out of school youths to escape the prevalent “shebeen culture”. and access technical education

The shebeen escape academy run as a trust and a separate entity from the lodge, offers vocational education, community development and outreach programmes in various topics such as gender-based violence; health education and general life skills.
As a pioneering initiative in Namibia, Shebeen Escape Academy will continuously develop more innovative solutions to deliver skills development and technical education to other villages and townships.
Mr Elifas Iimene has over 34 years teaching experience of which 24 were spent as a school principal of the Oshikoto Education Directorate until July 2017. Mr. Iimene holds a Bachelor of Pedagogics degree from University of Fort Hare in South Africa in 1988, and is the Centre Director of the Homestead Skills and Technical sEducation Academy at Ongula yaNetanga village in the Ohangwena region.

Mr Gwirizha has over 8 years working as a tourism and hospitality trainer. He holds a Masters in Business Administration in Human Resources degree. A Bachelor of Commerce honours degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management. Honors certificate in Training and Development for The Hospitality Industry from American Hotel & Lodging Association

Ms. Kaute is a Vocational Education and Hospitality and Tourism instructor. She holds a Certificate in Hospitality and Tourism (Level 3). She has participated in various cooking competitions, such as; The Namibian Chefs Association and World-skills, where she won the “Best of Nation” award in Abu Dhabi, 2017. She has extensive practical experience in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry.

Ms. Letta Nell holds an Honours Degree in Financial Engineering with a Foundation in Management. She conducted research on The Effects of Cryptocurrencies on Money Supply and Inflation (USA market). Additionally, she has experience in the Private Equity space and has worked on various Financial Proposals for Namibian companies. She is currently in pursuit of her Certification as a Financial Valuation Analyst

Ms. Emilia Lidker is a Vocational Education and Clothing Production Trainer, with 4 years of working experience as a Fashion Designer and a Trainer. She has a Level 3 National Certificate in Clothing Design and Technology. Level 4 Assessor certificate from Framework Africa. Level 5 Higher Certificate from The Namibia University of Science and Technology. She is currently in pursuit of a Diploma in Vocational
