Tourism contributes 15% (US$500 million) of the Namibia GDP with the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) forecasting an 8% growth per annum until 2023.

Tourists’ arrivals have increased dramatically from about 255,000 in 1993 to over 1.5 million in 2018, as Namibia is rated among the top 10 fastest growing destinations and the top five best family destinations in the world.

An all-year-round destination, Namibian national parks are linked for tourists to travel three countries, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe in one day.

One of the largest savannah conservation areas in Africa, the Etosha National Park is world renowned for its spectacular wildlife, elephant, black and white rhinoceros, lions, leopards, cheetahs, large herds of springbok, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and a multitude Namibia has achieved significant conservation successes and now has the largest expanding lion and giraffe populations outside protected areas and an elephant population that has increased from 7000 to 23 000 in around 20 years.
